Yachting & Wine - a meeting of associates who share the same values

Once again this year, Adria Libar Maritime & Yacht training center organized the Yachting & Wine meeting, which brought together representatives of the yacht charter industry and exciting speakers. The long-awaited event in the maritime sector took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Baraka winery. The organizers say that such meetings aim to gather associates from the industry with whom they share the same values.

Adria Libar Maritime & Yacht Training Center and Baraka Winery hosted the Yachting & Wine gathering again this year. They gathered around 70 of their business partners, representatives of the yacht charter industry, captains, skippers, lecturers, media representatives, and various institutions of Šibenik-Knin County. At the event, which took place on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Baraka Winery, they took advantage of a beautiful day to escape from the daily office routine and meet with like-minded people.

In the cozy atmosphere in the wonderful natural surroundings of Baraka Winery, as the organizer has been doing for several years, the pleasure of work and socializing came together. After the meeting was not held for two years due to a pandemic, the organizers continued the tradition last year and this year returned to the original idea of the meeting.

In a relaxed business atmosphere, they informed the attendees about the current events in the yacht charter business with interesting speakers on a fascinating panel. The socializing continued with excellent wines and a wide selection of food prepared on-site for the guests.

Adria Libra representatives say that the Yachting & Wine meeting intends to gather industry partners with whom they share the same values and thoughts about nautical industry in Croatia with long-term development. Particular emphasis is placed on safety, sustainability, and raising the level of nautical service.

The guests were welcomed at the very beginning by the host Filip Baraka, the owner of the family boutique winery Baraka, which currently produces 30,000 bottles of wine. The family's connection with the sea allows them to combine their love of wine and the sea in a truly unique story.

The panel lecture continued with pleasant conversations in the excellent company of the speakers, led by Katarina Barić from Adria Libar Center, and according to the topics:

  • What to look for when navigating with nautical insurance
  • Corporate finance and understanding entrepreneurs in the nautical industry
  • Who are "Scanners," and what are their unique projects

What to look for when navigating with nautical insurance?

The speaker of the first part of the panel discussion was Marijan Dželalija, who is well-known to everyone in the maritime world. Although Marijan is a kinesiologist by profession, he has been working in the field of nautical insurance for 13 years. He is otherwise an avid sailor and expert in maritime insurance.

Marijan introduced to the guests Yacht-Pool International, a company with 45 years of experience insuring boats, yachts, and skippers in the Mediterranean - in Croatia with an office in Poreč.

Numerous conversations at boat shows, where he repeatedly met with representatives of the training center and its work, brought Marijan to Yachting & Wine this year as a matter of course. He answered questions about vessel insurance, skipper, hull insurance, liability, and other coverage. He also mentioned the "most sensitive" coverage for losing yacht charter income and business damage in his presentation. And this topic was of particular interest to yacht charterers.

Corporate finance and understanding entrepreneurs in the nautical industry

The next speaker on the panel needed no special introduction. After his long career in banking, Ivica Žuro is now a top consultant for financing and management in entrepreneurship at the company MM Beneficium.

His specialty is financing, refinancing with more favorable loans, organizational improvements, and business cost savings. Ivica Žuro spoke on the panel about these topics and made himself available to help entrepreneurs from the nautical sector.

Ivica is not only an entertaining speaker but also an avid quiz participant and former basketball player. His particular writing style is easily recognizable through his blogs, social media, and numerous targeted media and platforms.

Ivica describes everything complex in topics such as financing through banks, funds, grants, investment studies, and reports in understandable language. In his presentation, Ivica especially praised Šibenik - Knin County as one of the most active in terms of supporting entrepreneurs, subsidizing interest, and generally listening to and understanding entrepreneurs.

Who are the "Scanners," and what are their unique projects?

At this year's Yachting & Wine, Beti Puž, marketing manager, and Petar Kir Hromatko, director and co-founder of Skener Yachting, introduced themselves. These young entrepreneurs and graduated kinesiologists already inspired the organizers at their first meeting last year at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb.

With unique ideas and a project that offers something different in nautics, with the aim of extending the nautical season and original offer, they are an example of young people who think about how to stay living but also work in Croatia.

The skippers of Skener Yachting, all certified kinesiologists, have combined pedagogy and their previous knowledge with individual skills in which they specialize as instructors. So their skills, such as windsurfing, yoga, fitness, massage, and swimming, are a unique nautical offer that combines active recreation and animation.

Yachting & Wine and traditional cuisine in a modern way

After the official program of the Yachting & Wine meeting, the meeting with the guests and guest speakers continued on the terrace of the winery with wine and local food tastings in the ideal atmosphere of the winery and its vineyards.

The organizers also wanted to encourage yacht charterers to highlight the local gastronomic offer, as they are the best promoters of destinations.

Chef Mate Sučić shared his culinary skills with delighted guests, but also his joy about the award "Young Chef 2023", which was presented to him by Gault & Millau in Zagreb shortly before this meeting.

Given the exceptional environment in his restaurant Campanelo, where he builds his family story and offer, and his love for the profession of chef and local ingredients, we are sure that you will hear many good things about this young chef.

Judging by the guests' reactions, the hosts, Adria Libar and Vinarija Baraka, provided a memorable experience this year. But, of course, they did. By combining the love of nautics and the climate in which they develop their business, they build unique relationships through gatherings and socializing in the yachting community.
